Presentations & Summer Reading Challenge

flickr russell crowdFairfax Library Foundation funds many events at the 23 library branches, including funding in-part programs such as the library’s Summer Reading Adventure, Fall for the Book, and the Book Club Conference. Over the years, the Foundation has also hosted the Capital Book Festival, the Perspectives Series, All Fairfax Reads, and many author presentations.

These presentations encourage community members to seek enjoyment from great literature, while highlighting the importance of reading, literacy, and the library. The variety of presentations, for people of all ages, demonstrates the versatility of using the library as a gathering space while providing entertaining or informative activities.

Last year, over 205,000 library visitors attended over 13,000 library programs held at the 23 library branches. The Foundation funded over $60,000 for presentations.

Testimonials for Summer Reading and Presentations

“As a performer who travels nationwide and performs polka music predominantly for kids and families, I’m always interested to see how the happy and unique sounds will be received in the various areas I visit. I was thrilled to see patrons from all walks of life enjoying and dancing to the music of Pint Size Polkas during my visit to the Fairfax County Public Library. The librarians in your system are to be highly commended for their work in promoting programming at their branches. Attendance at each show was strong and enthusiastic, and it’s clear they’ve done a great job developing their library branches as centers for education, enrichment, and entertainment in the community. It was an honor to be part of this summer’s programming at the Fairfax County Public Library, and I look forward to the opportunity to return in the future. Thanks again!”
