Abigail Fine Departs Library Foundation
We want to share with our supporters that there is a staff change at Fairfax Library Foundation. Abigail Fine, our Director of Development, is leaving the Foundation for a new opportunity. Ms. Fine’s work at the Foundation since she started in October 2015 has been instrumental in raising funds for the library, and raising the organization’s public profile. She will be greatly missed at the Foundation and in the library. Her last day is February 16, 2018.
Ms. Fine will not be going far. She has accepted a new position as Managing Director of NextStop Theatre Company, effective March 1st. NextStop is a non-profit, professional theatre company located in Herndon, putting on a variety of high-quality musicals and plays throughout the season, as well as hosting educational programs for children, teens and adults. Ms. Fine can be reached in her new role at Abigail@NextStopTheatre.org. You can find a full press release from NextStop here.
“Although I am very excited about my new role, it is bittersweet to leave the Foundation and Library service,” says Fine. “This work ignited my passion for libraries and for Fairfax County. I came to love the library, and I have so much respect for the work that Fairfax County Public Library does for our community. I will continue to be an enthusiastic library supporter and patron!”
Ms. Fine particularly developed her passion for Young Adult literature, and recently published her debut novel, a YA near-future adventure story. She is honored that Fairfax County Public Library now carries her novel in the ebook collection, under her author name, Abbie Fine. Ms. Fine and the Foundation will be at the upcoming NoVA Teen Book Festival on March 10th, celebrating our community’s teen readers!
Fairfax Library Foundation will be posting the Director of Development position through Fairfax County’s job portal from February 17th to March 2nd. Interested candidates should look to the job posting. Questions should be directed to Susan Harman at info@FairfaxLibraryFoundation.org.
